GRAPHALLOY
HIGH TEMPERATURE BUSHINGS & THRUST WASHERS

STANDARD BUSHINGS

For Temperatures to 750o F

GRAPHALLOY High Temperature Bushings are intrinsically suitable for heavy industrial applications. Up to 750oF, installations of these bushings have operated more than ten years without interuption and without replacement of shaft or bushings.

In normal applications, shafts are cold-rolled steel or cast iron. However, for longer life and even higher load capacity, shafts should be of carbon steel, ground and polished to a 16-micro inch finish and with a hardness of 55 - 60 R/c

GRAPHALLOY Bushings are self-lubricating with low and constant coefficient of friction, and are long lived. They excel where many other types of bearing fail. Examples: where oil or grease cannot be used; quick starts and stops under load-GRAPHALLOY will not cold flow or weld under load; and quick, short linear or rotationg movements. (Some of our customers use these bushings for conducting electrical current).

STANDARD THRUST WASHERS

Temperatures to 750o F

GRAPHALLOY High Temperature Thrust Washers are used in conjunction with conveyor bushings, traction wheel bushins, pillow blocks and similar installations where thrust is involved. Such a thrust washer should always be used with a steel mating face that has an equal or larger O.D. than the thrust washer.

Successful applications occur where a cold-rolled steel mating face has a 32 microinch finish. For best results, however, the mating face should be ground and polished to a 16 - microinch finish and should have a hardness of 55 - 60 R/c.

Steel set-collars with smooth thrust faces are used to hold shafts in position axially. These are used in conjunction either with a GRAPHALLOY Bushing or a GRAPHALLOY Thrust Washer.
